Padma P. Tadi Uppala, PhD, is an Associate Professor in Environmental Toxicology in the School of Public Health at Loma Linda University and the Program Director for Inland Empire Breast Cancer Research and Outreach Center. Uppala earned her Ph.D. in Biology with a primary focus on environmental carcinogenesis from Loma Linda University in 1991 and obtained postdoctoral training in Environmental Toxicology at the University of California, Riverside. She earned her MSc. in Parasitology from Kakatiya University, Warangal and B.Ed. from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. She has authored several scientific publications in the area of pesticides and biomarkers for breast cancer.

Dr. Mrinal K Ghosh is a leading cancer biologist of India; among the first few who initiated the front-line cancer cell signaling research in India. Currently, he is a Principal Scientist at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB). His key findings are published in Molecular Cell (2003), JCB (2000), EMBO J (2001), Oncogene (2005), Journal of Virology (2001&2010) etc. Recently, he illustrated several oncogenic mechanisms on transcriptional, post-translational, signaling cross-talk and cancer therapeutics in collaboration with chemists and clinicians. Genetic and epigenetic alterations of mismatch repair and spindle assembly checkpoint genes in oral cancer are being analysed to understand the molecular basis of genomic instability. The mechanism of spindle assembly checkpoint is being investigated to understand its role in aneuploidy. Systematic search for the single nucleotide polymorphisms in DNA repair genes is being carried out to identify the susceptibility alleles for the development of oral cancer. We are studying the association between cytokine and chemokine genes polymorphisms and Helicobacter pylori mediated gastroduodenal diseases. We are also performing the functional analysis of disease-associated polymorphisms to understand the biochemical basis of disease susceptibility.

He has over 40 publications in national and international journals and is member of the european society of medical oncology (esmo), american society of clinical oncology (asco), indian cooperative oncology network (icon), indian society of oncology (iso).
